ICN Star Student

Join us in congratulating Oliver Petzel-Flashman as our Star Student of the month!

Though only in Kindergarten, Oliver has shown tremendous hard work and determination both in the classroom and online through ChessKid engagement.

Oliver plays a crucial role in the newly minted chess program at PS 217 in Brooklyn. Though the program only started in February, Oliver showed great leadership skills by representing the PS 217 Chess Club and Team at the New York State Scholastic Championship held in Saratoga Springs, New York. Oliver scored 3.5 points in only his second tournament ever, showing the rest of New York that PS 217 is here to play and challenge the best!

Oliver shows great sportsmanship in the chess club when he plays with his fellow classmates. As well as participates frequently during every lesson.

We know through hard work and determination, Oliver will be a huge pillar in the development of the PS 217 chess program. It is our pleasure to see Oliver grow as a chess player and look forward to many years to come!

Congratulations Oliver, well deserved!
