February Report from the Director

Dear Chess Friends & Families,

Our Spring Semester of Club & Team programs launched this week, and we're amazed to see over 2000 kids getting into action across our 30 programs across Brooklyn & Manhattan.

Our Top 50 rated players are preparing for the NY State Chess Championship in Saratoga next month, and we're pleased to see how overall progress trends up, especially with the extra T'n'T Trainings with GM Alex Lenderman happening twice a week now. Also see here to find our Top 20 Per Grade lists. We're expecting big things to come from the elite level of play this spring!

In line with the hard work and efforts of all our kids to prepare for Saratoga (and Chicago and Columbus!), we're happy to offer our Midwinter Championship Prep Camp running during the Midwinter Recess week, February 19-23. Register here:

And speaking of camps, the next tier of our discounted Summer Camp pricing is open now through the end of March. Register now to lock in summer blocks:

Full-day chess camps are super-vitamins, so let's jump in now!

The PS 34 Owls made their presence felt at the Brooklyn Cup

Preparing for the Spring Championships is critical to our goals for all our kids and teams. To that end, we're offering a special contest in the month of February.

During the entire month of February, the child who solves the most puzzles correct on their ChessKid account across all of ICN will win a free chess lesson with GM Alex Lenderman, as well as a set of six chess balls!

Alex will work with the winning kid in the week leading up to Saratoga to put the finishing touches on their preparation.

We will track the ongoing results of the contest on our Superstar Chess League, and who knows, the winning TEAM may win a pizza party!

Last but not least, our ICN buses will be taking players and parents to Saratoga and back as last year.

The buses will leave from Midtown, Chinatown, and Windsor Terrace in Brooklyn on Friday, March 8th after clubs end, and will be returning Sunday evening around 7pm after the awards ceremony in Saratoga.

The fare is $100 per ticket round trip, and you can register here:

Please see our Spring Championship parent meeting video from last night linked below for a full outline of the big events coming up!

We look forward to seeing you all soon,

Thanks,

Ian West
