Summer Camp Guide
Dear Chess Friends & Families:
Summer comes so fast, and even though it's still several months away, we've already got some big plans in the works. We know that champions are minted in the summer, because nothing accelerates learning and rating point gain like immersive learning in a competitive environment.
Our summer camps now feature TWO rated games per day, meaning that each week of summer camp is like a TEN round tournament. We know that the combination of lessons and activities tailored to your child's strength level PLUS lots of rated play EQUALS extremely quick improvment.
This summer we will have six sites running around the city: our original midtown camp at PS 111, our Upper East Side site at Trevor Day, our Upper West Side site at Trevor Day School, our newly added LES Summer Chess Academy site on Henry Street, along with our flagship Brooklyn site at PS 230, and our advanced training site at the Marshall Chess Club, for players 1200 USCF and above, led by GM Alex Lenderman.
As we head into the major championships in the coming months, our coaches are excited to see last summer's crop of champs finally reap the rewards they put so much time and energy into. And we're so happy to support them!
About ICN Summer Training Camps:
From complete beginners to advancing tournament players our goal is that all campers can experience both the joy & significant social/educational benefits of learning and playing chess.
Our unique team-first approach to training camps caters to both beginning players and teams alike. Our camps provide a perfect combination of USCF-rated match play, group analysis, individual coaching opportunities, daily themed lectures, social play and much more. Players will be grouped based on their appropriate level, and additional sports, activities, and social play will be included throughout each day. Pizza lunch and a snack are included. Camps will feature special guest visitors, unique themes, and camp versus camp matches.
