January Report from the Director

Dear Chess Friends & Families,

We hope you all had a restful and fun holiday! Coming off the Grade National Championship last month (see video below) as well as our holiday camp (which featured a visit from WGM Jenn Shahade) and a little down time, we're rested and ready to jump into a great trio of upcoming events.

First up is the Winter Festivals on January 15th, taking place at PS 111 in Manhattan and PS 230 in Brooklyn. Our festivals are great opportunities to wrap a full day of training and rated games into a relaxed and fun camp-like atmosphere.

January also features our biggest end-of-semester team tournaments, the Brooklyn & Manhattan Cups. These give a whole new meaning to the concept of the team tournament, featuring a ten-board scoring system where the winning team in each borough takes home the famous trophies.

And finally, it's that time! Our Spring Semester of Club & Team programs launches on February 1st, so sign up now and make sure your seat is reserved.

Congratulations to our Top 50 players for the month of January (click here to see our Top 20 per Grade lists as well)! We launched our new TNT Training Sessions yesterday, our twice-a-week Grandmaster-led invitational zoom sessions free for all ICN players 1500+.

Let's make sure we're ready for the big spring championships coming up!

Thanks so much,

Coach West
